GENERAL NOTE | |
General note | The member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council-Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia-have recently been exercising greater regional muscle, according to Legrenzi (Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, U. of Ottawa, Canada) and Momani (U. of Waterloo, Canada), who present 12 papers investigating the implications of this development for the international economy. The papers have been divided into two parts which examine, first, the evolution of the oil-exporting rentier character of the GCC states and, second, changes in the investment and trade patterns of the GCC states and the impact of this on their financial standing in the world.
